All of us spend our free time playing games and all our lives have been spent being told that video games aren’t good for you because they “damage your eyes” or “make you less smart” but that’s not true.
To begin with, the eyes aren’t considerably affected by the screen, for example, reading a book from a tablet and an actual book doesn’t really have that much of a difference, therefore it cannot damage your eyes in anyway. You can also do things to avoid changes that happen to your eyes.
Secondly, games have actually shown to need intelligence in some situations and can sometimes improve intelligence and give facts that I myself have actually needed to use in my life, especially survival games, where you can learn basic survival skills like how to make a fire, survive a plane crash and much more, these skills are really important to know and can be life saving sometimes.

Another point worth mentioning is that video games can actually have a positive effect on you. They are really good for relieving stress after a long day of work, for example playing the genre of “bandit beaters” is a nice and satisfying way to relax, it is also really easy to get comfortable on “idle” games where you don’t have to do anything, and just watch that level go up.
Furthermore, they can also increase the brains capabilities. Studies have shown that playing fps and action games can improve attention span, as this is a requirement in games such as “Ghost of Yotei” for beating a level. As a matter of fact, studies have also shown that students who played Portal 2 performed better in a test rather than students who completed academic exercises.
To conclude with, video games aren’t necessarily all that bad for you. But, this doesn’t mean that you should stay up all night grinding levels on Fortnite.
