The silent rulers of the world

Jobs are a fundamental part of society. Without evenly allotted roles, we would not have

advanced as far as we have. Every job, no matter its significance, has a specially preserved place,

despite some crowds of people looking down upon them. It is inherently incorrect to bear this

line of thinking, if you do, I urge you immediately to reevaluate it. Some only perceive STEM-

related jobs as the optimal choice as STEM is the future of mankind, albeit a grim one, and

despite my intention to pursue one of these sagacious jobs, I cannot vouch for the formerly

mentioned aristocrat crowd. In fact, I have always emphasized with the blue-collar individuals.

They work tremendously coarse hours daily for the self-absorbed public, while we are at our

cushy employment. Some of them must stay under the blazing sun for hours while laying bricks

or cement when the heat is at its climax and shadow is nowhere to be found but only in their

stupendous imagination. Their will to serve the greater good is beyond our feeble understanding

of society. The population passes through excellently constructed streets without taking into

account the long hours put in by these zealous builders, whose only role is to ensure that we are

accustomed to fully urbanized cities, where we cannot whine over ignorant issues that are not in

our hands, but in the builders. However, I would like to point out another vital blue-collar job:

tram driver.

Not only students but an extensive array of individuals utilize the tram to get to their

employment or leisure. It is one of the most convenient urban public transportations managing to

get you from point A to point B in no time. With the modernization of society as a whole, so

have the trams advanced through time, no longer being part of the 90s aesthetic. However, these

trams do not drive themselves, which would be foolish, instead, someone is always in front of

the wagon. Tram drivers are immensely dedicated people, and we don’t realize how significant

they are until we see the whole picture. They sit in their secluded cabin for their whole shift,

exposing themselves to a multitude variety of weather, and have to drive the tram during

excruciating sunlight and pitch black. Contrary to popular belief, not only do they drive the tram

along habitually set routes, but they also must be extremely attentive. At the start of their lengthy

shift, they must carry out equipment checks to not pose any danger to the following passengers

in case of a disastrous emergency, where a part randomly malfunctions and sets on a horrible

chain of events, with a bleak ending. They must also keep in radio contact with the control room,

to be notified of any urgent news that could potentially harm not only the passengers but also the

driver. Keeping your ears sharp is a must if you want to pursue this respective job.

Overall, we take for granted what we have. Most of us have the luminous experience of pursuing

higher education. However, not everyone affords this right. For most, education is a right, when

it is a privilege. Not everybody can afford to spend two extra years in a classroom learning a

plethora of informative topics, some must get spearhead in the work field to feed their family.

Thus, we are not allowed to look down on anybody who is working in a hands-on field. Our

society could not function without truckers, builders, mechanics, or tram drivers. Before

disrespecting these noble professions, put yourself in their shoes and be grateful for the

enlightening opportunities you have been bequeathed.
