On Loyalty- A Poem

Loyalty, loyalty there, loyalty here. What does it truly mean? Is it even real or just something we waste our time on?

Loyalty is caring for someone, helping them whenever you can, not turning your back on them when you can be there for them, when you know they need you most.

Loyalty means speaking up for causes, people or ideas you think deserve it.

Loyalty is unpredictable.

Loyalty can make one suffer like they never have before, or make them the happiest they've ever been.

Loyalty can come from family members, relatives, friends, best friends, co-workers, strangers even, during situations you never thought you'd end up in, in unexpected places.

Loyalty can disappear as easily as it was received.

Loyalty doesn't just come out of nowhere, it's gained for specific reasons and springs from various long-term attitudes.

Loyalty can sometimes be fake, it isn't always what you hoped for, or thought it would be.

Loyalty means that you won't stab anyone in the back, that you will, without exception, back them up, no matter the circumstances they find themselves in, because you trust them and care about them.

Who are you loyal to? Besides yourself?
