Death of humanity, Rise of A.I.

Ever since artificial intelligence has been allowed to be freely and easily used by the common man, it has set its mark on the world. Many people started questioning whether artificial intelligence was doing more harm than good for society, and I am one of them. While the negative impact of it has been talked about a lot, I want to bring a new perspective to it, which is the close bond between artificial intelligence and pollution, both on humans and on nature.
To begin with, I would like to talk about the huge amount of pollution that it causes to the human brain. Way too many people have taken the liberty in letting ChatGPT and other apps that have at their core AI do their homework. Instead of learning, students tell themselves that they can have a robot do their job, but that only makes them learn harder and harder. Students aren’t capable of memorising and understanding things as easily as before, due to the constant use of helpers that do it for them.
Furthermore, we aren’t only talking about academic achievements. Artificial intelligence is causing people to lose their creativity and critical thinking skills. Nowadays, when someone sees a painting, they no longer think further than the paint used on it, deeper into the true meaning, because they have lost the capacity to do so. On the same note, a lot of people can’t make simple, quick decisions anymore. They cannot think for themselves and, when problems come, they do know what to do to solve them, because, if they don’t train their brain and keep it awake by learning, then they slowly lose their ability to think critically.
Setting aside the slow rotting of the brain, another huge problem is the gruesome effect artificial intelligence has on the health of our planet. We already know that we are in a dangerous position, on the brink of a mass extinction, however, as if it is not merely enough, we are endangering ourselves even more by allowing A.I. to be used excessively by everyone around us.
Let’s take a look at how addressing a question to chatGPT works. Artificial intelligence is an algorithm that manages to do a quick analysis on the data spread around the entire world. For this to be done, A.I. needs energy, a lot of it, which is taken from A.I. centres, which burn a lot of water and emit carbon dioxide in huge amounts, contributing even further to the burning of our planet.
If A.I. would be used only in university centres or institutes that actually need it to make research much faster, it would be a small sacrifice, understandable for the continuing development of society. However, people use it for the most useless questions and for homework they could easily do themselves. Why can’t you just search it on Google? Talking about Google, did you know that they promised to have a zero-carbon emission by 2030. Now, because of their focus on artificial intelligence, their emissions are rising more and more every year.
To conclude with, artificial intelligence is not some gift given to humans by the All Mighty, it is a parasite, which feeds on people’s brain and on the health of our planets. I know you are too dependent on it to give it up, but you could at least reduce your usage. Stop asking it for English essays and stop asking it useless questions that could be found just as easily on Google. Be more responsible, because the future depends on it. Your future as well as mine.
