Lately, while surfing on the internet I keep getting this big wave of Deja-
vu, like AS IF I have seen these trends and posts before at some time in
the past. It is true, I have seen them a long time ago, and what seemed to
be forgotten in the back of my mind is coming back up from
passive memory shelves.
There is no doubt that today we feel more nostalgic than ever. We are
closer to the age of maturity, and it is obvious that if we could slow
down time and experience being kids again and having no worry in
the world, we would. This explains why we play with
Kendama’s in the hallways and why we play games on our phones that
we used to play when we were kids. We want to feel how we felt back
then because we have just now realized that those moments were the
best moments of our lives. Not to mention how fast time passes. Of
course, we try to do everything to stick to the past and to the things that
brought us joy because in just the blink of an eye we can wake up ten
years older without even realizing IT.
On the other hand, we were also young kids watching adolescents living
their lives in the most amazing and beautiful way. We wanted what they
had, and we wanted to feel the way they did. However, once we grew
up, we hoped we could bring back the trends and the vibes of that time
to feel them on our own skin and have our own experience of it. I think
it is fair to say that we succeeded in bringing back some of those habits,
customs and traditions . We tried using the filters, singing the
songs, bringing back the old makeup styles, watching the old Disney
shows and movies. We did get a glimpse of the old times.

However, nothing could have prepared us for the actual truth. No matter
how hard we try we cannot fully replicate those originals feelings the
2010’s gave us. It was something so authentic that even though we try to
use the filters again, to sing those songs and to act a certain way, the past
stays where it belongs and the present cannot take its place. And an
aspect that has slipped out of our hands is that our personality has
changed over the years and we have shaped our teenage life
differently from what we imagined it would be. Not to mention the new
generation Alpha that is starting to take our place. Maybe they also wish
they had our lives and, in a few years, 2025 will be for them what 2015
is for us.
Irrevocably, nostalgia is consuming us everyday and despite
the fact that we wish we could go back in time to relive what we thought
would last forever, nothing can replace the 2010’s lifestyle.
