The 2022 Formula 1 season has just started, and we are already thrilled to see the changes that this year has brought us. This season has been deemed by some as the most exciting one in a while, as it brings not only the usual changes that regard safety and the occasional new driver, but implements changes in the cars. Starting with a ground effect floor, meaning that there is no more suction under the car to pull it to tarmac, while also ensuring that more of the downforce is generated from under the car. Moreover, we have the 18-inch tyres, which are not only more aesthetically pleasing, but play an important role in the handling of the car.
Last but not least, the simplified front wing and the sharp rear wing, which are designed to send airflow in a narrower way, instead of sending it outwards. The curved rear wing has much less impactful DRS.
As for the drivers, Russell joins Mercedes, Bottas switches to Alfa Romeo and Red Bull has retained the same lineup, while Nikita Mazepin was removed from Hass team because of the conflict in Ukraine and was replaced by Kevin Maggnusen.
Two races will be held this month, the first on the 10th at the Australia Grand Prix, and the second on the 24th at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
